The harvest season is over, and it was a true joy from start to finish. The buildup featured weekly sugar-content testing and the anticipation of what might unfold. Then a heat wave arrived, and after another round of testing, the berries were suddenly perfect. With two days to spare, we prepared in a surge of excitement for the season’s culmination. Early in the morning, the vineyard came alive with a buzz of activity—laughter and lively chatter filling the air. The red grape crates stood in striking contrast to the lush green leaves, creating a vivid tapestry of color. At the helm was Richard, the vineyard manager, directing the operation with the precision of a conductor guiding a refined orchestra. Scissors were handed out, and the harvest began—clip, clip—hands working methodically to fill the crates one by one, while the sounds of conversation drifted along the towering rows of vines. Everyone carried their crates and tipped them into a large trailer, and in the blazing heat, the rich aroma of grapes rose into the air as each load moved toward processing. After two weeks, a quietness settled over the vineyard, yet, as if guided by nature, a warm golden glow began to shift across the landscape, signaling that autumn was taking hold. The vines, having delivered their finest performance, seemed to signal a curtain closing, marking a period of rest before preparations restart for the next season.
